VW Master Techinicians

Volkswagen Waterloo’s Mike Ritchie and Gary Buchanan achieve Master Technician status

It was a day to celebrate a special achievement. Tammy Vigna, Fixed Operations Manager and Ingo Schnuelle, Technical Quality Manager from Volkswagen Group Canada made the trip to Waterloo to honour and recognize two of our technicians. Long-time employee Mike Ritchie recently completed his Master Technician status, joining Gary Buchanan who had done the same about two years ago. Achieving the Volkswagen Master Technician designation takes special dedication and effort to complete the numerous required courses and evaluations. Both Mike and Gary were congratulated to have made it this far in their field and were presented with a special VW Master Technician ring to wear and display with pride.

Throughout all the Volkswagen dealerships in Canada, there are 893 Volkswagen certified technicians. Of those 893, only 26 have achieved the VW Master Technician level. It was recognized by Ingo Schnuelle that Mike and Gary are the only two VW Master Technicians in all of South Western Ontario. We at Volkswagen Waterloo are proud to have them as integral members of our award-winning team.

Our technicians are committed to training and ensuring that vehicles are fixed correctly the first time, and having Mike and Gary to lean on is a great asset. Dietrich Look, Dealer principal of VW Waterloo, presented both Mike and Gary with gift certificates and praised their effort and discipline in achieving this milestone.
